My Garage Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
My Garage: Family Car Log (“My Garage” or “the app”; the app's final name may change) is published by Summit Lane Studios LLC, a Hawaii limited liability company (“Summit Lane Studios”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains how the app handles information and the choices you have. It applies to the My Garage mobile apps for iOS and Android and to this page at summitlanestudios.com. Use of the app is also governed by our Terms of Use.

2. Information we collect
We do not collect any personal information through the app. My Garage has no user accounts and no sign-in, does not connect to servers operated by us or on our behalf, and contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting tools. We do not receive, see, store, sell or share the information you enter into the app. We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use it for targeted advertising or profiling.
If you email us, we receive the information you choose to send (such as your email address and message) and use it only to answer you. That correspondence is separate from the app.
3. Data stored on your device
Everything you add to My Garage, such as vehicle details, maintenance records, reminders, notes, and car and document photos, is stored only on your device, in the app's private storage. It is not uploaded to us. You control this data and are responsible for the security of your device (for example by using a passcode). Because we never hold a copy, we cannot view, restore or recover it for you.
4. Device permissions and how to revoke them
The app asks for permissions only when you use a feature that needs them. Each is optional; if you decline, the rest of the app keeps working.
- Camera: used only to take car and document photos that you choose to capture.
- Photo library: used only to add car and document photos that you choose to select.
- Notifications: used only to remind you about maintenance and expiry dates you set. Reminders are scheduled and delivered on your device.
- Bluetooth (Nearby devices on Android): used only to connect to an OBD-II adapter that you choose; not used to determine your location. See Bluetooth and vehicle data.
Background removal on photos runs entirely on your device; photos are not sent to us or to any outside service for processing.
To revoke a permission: on iPhone or iPad, go to Settings → My Garage (or Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera / Photos) and change the setting; for notifications, Settings → Notifications → My Garage. On Android, go to Settings → Apps → My Garage → Permissions (and Notifications), or long-press the app icon and tap App info. Menu names may vary by device and OS version.
5. Bluetooth and vehicle data
My Garage uses Bluetooth only to connect to an OBD-II adapter that you choose. Data read from your vehicle (VIN, mileage, live sensor readings and trouble codes) is stored only on your device. It is not uploaded, sold or shared. My Garage does not use Bluetooth to determine your location.
You can disconnect the adapter or revoke the app's Bluetooth permission at any time in your device settings.
6. Device backups
My Garage uses your device platform's standard backup settings. On iPhone and iPad, app data is included in your own iCloud Backup if you have it turned on; on Android, it is included in Google Auto Backup if you have it turned on. These backups are stored only in your own Apple or Google account and are created, stored and protected by Apple or Google under their own terms and privacy policies (Apple, Google). Summit Lane Studios never receives or has access to them. You can turn off iCloud Backup or Google backup at any time in your device settings (on iPhone: Settings → [your name] → iCloud → iCloud Backup; on Android: Settings → Google → Backup; menu names may vary by device and OS version).
7. Exporting and sharing
The current version of My Garage has no export or sharing features: it has no share sheet and no PDF, CSV or other export. Your information does not leave the app except through your own device backups described in Device backups.
8. Children
My Garage is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13. Because the app does not collect personal information, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, consistent with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child under 13 has sent us personal information by email, contact us at support@summitlanestudios.com and we will delete it.
9. Deleting your data
You can delete individual records inside the app. To delete all app data, uninstall My Garage or clear its data (on Android: Settings → Apps → My Garage → Storage → Clear storage; on iPhone, delete the app). This permanently removes the data stored by the app on that device. We cannot recover deleted data, because we never had a copy. Copies in your own iCloud or Google backups (see Device backups) remain until you delete them in your Apple or Google account, or until they expire under those services' rules.
10. Security
Your data stays in the app's storage on your device, protected by your operating system's app sandboxing and, where your device supports and enables it, its built-in storage encryption. Because nothing is sent to us, there is no server copy that could be exposed in a breach of our systems. No method of storage is completely secure, and the security of your data also depends on your device, its passcode and its software updates, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) and other U.S. state privacy laws, the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and similar laws may give you rights to know about, access, correct, delete or receive a portable copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, targeted advertising and profiling.
We hold no personal information from the app, so there is nothing for us to access, correct, port or delete on our side. You can exercise these rights yourself directly in the app and on your device: view and edit your data in the app, export it where the app allows, and delete it as described above. We do not sell or share personal information and do not make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects. If you email us with a privacy question or a request about any email correspondence we hold, we will respond within the time the law requires (generally 45 days in the U.S. and one month in the EEA/UK), and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. EEA and UK residents may also complain to their local data protection authority.
12. Third parties
The app includes no third-party SDKs for analytics, advertising, tracking or crash reporting, and we share no data with third parties. The app relies only on services built into your device's operating system (such as the camera, photo picker, local notifications and on-device image processing) provided by Apple or Google. Downloading the app through the App Store or Google Play is governed by Apple's or Google's own terms and privacy policies.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example if the app adds features. We will post the new version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. If a change is material, such as beginning to collect any personal information, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect and, where the law requires, ask for your consent.
